The Most Effective Way to Treat Zits
By Thomas Middleton
When most people, especially teens, look into the mirror and see a huge zit or pimple on their face, they instinctually press it between their fingers, hoping to pop it and stop the puss from building up, making it more aesthetically pleasing, a hugely important thing especially before an important social even such as prom or a party. The truth is that his is far from the best way to treat zits when they pop up. If you learn how to react to them properly, they will go away much faster than simply popping them on the spot.
The first thing you will want to do is to remember that the best time to begin treating it in a healthy way is to wait until the zit is bursting with pus, at its largest point. The next thing you will want to do is wash your hands, making sure to get under the nails and get rid of any bacteria that may be clinging on. You may even want to consider putting on gloves so there is no chance of infection. You'll want to get a needle (don't be scared), and sterilize it. You do this by running it over an open flame, so as to burn away all the bacteria on it so it doesn't cause further infection.
You'll want to take the pimple and squeeze it till blood comes out of it or a clear substance. Make sure to get it evenly on every side. The cells in the pimple should be okay in one or two days. With a clean napkin or piece of tissue paper, dab around the zit to get all the liquid that came out, being careful not to spread it beyond the point of the zit. Wash your hands a second time for the next step in the process.
If you experience any type of swelling of irritation of the area, make sure you soak it with a cloth that has been wrapped in ice. When you are done treating (squeezing) the zit, you'll want to put hydrogen peroxide on it to avoid bacteria getting in and infecting it making it worse. You'll also want to use Benzoyl Peroxide on top of that, just to be safe. Remember that it's extremely important that you make sure your hands are cleaned with soap and water between each zit that you squeeze so no bacteria gets in. If you allow bacteria to flourish then its pointless to try to treat it because it will either make it worse or come right back again.
Another good tip to use is that trying to pop or squeeze a pimple that has not yet surfaced can cause bacteria to get stuck inside and get infected. Never try to treat any zits that haven't come to its fullest point, pussing over the top.
Now that you have learned what is needed to properly treat a zit, you will have less break-outs and the ones you do have will not last as long as if you just go willy nilly and don't wash your hands or take any of the precautions mentioned above.
